- Film format
-
135 (35 mm) film strips: colour and B&W,
negative and positive. No mounted slides.
- Resolution
- 4k DPI, around 22 megapixels per frame.
- Maximum frame size
- 5,760 × 3,840 px.
- Sensor
-
Stacked back-side-illuminated (BSI) CMOS.
- Bit depth
- 48-bit colour, 16 bits per channel.
- Capture
-
RGB trichrome. Every frame is exposed three
times, once under each of the red, green and
blue channels, so each pixel is measured in
every channel rather than interpolated from a
colour filter array.
- Dynamic range
-
Captures the full density range of colour negative
film, exceeding the recordable range of stocks
like Portra 160.
- Scan speed
-
A full, unbroken 36-exposure roll in under three
minutes at full resolution, with infrared dust
removal adding no scan time.
- Dust & scratch removal
-
A dedicated 940 nm infrared pass produces a defect
map, which is handed to Korova with the scan and
filled in from the surrounding pixels. Grain is
untouched. On black-and-white film, where infrared
does not work, Linter in Korova detects dust and
scratches from the image itself.
- Light source
-
Four-channel LED array: 680 nm red, 550 nm green,
450 nm blue and 940 nm infrared.
- Film transport
-
Automated stepper-driven transport, advanced
under firmware control between exposures.
- Lens
-
High-performance 4-element lens, designed in
Rochester, New York.
- Output formats
-
TIFF, JPEG and PNG at 4k, 2k or 1k DPI.
- Interface
-
USB 3.0 SuperSpeed (5 Gbps), vendor class. No
driver install; no hub recommended.
- Host software
-
Korova, included. Inversion rendered through a
curve modelled on RA-4 paper response, with the
film base measured from each roll's own
inter-frame gaps; C/M/Y/D and paper-grade
printing corrections that save as recipes;
automatic frame detection and orientation; and
export to 16-bit TIFF, PNG or JPEG.
