Privacy Policy
Soke Engineering Ltd. Last updated 5 October 2026
Who we are
Soke Engineering Ltd. is the data controller for personal data collected through this website
and through orders placed on it.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at
info@soke.engineering.
What data we collect
We collect personal data in these situations:
-
Newsletter. Your email address, and whether you are an individual or
a film lab, when you sign up for news on this website or tick "Email me news from
Soke Engineering" when ordering.
-
Contact form. Your name, your email address and your message.
-
Orders. When you order a Knokke: your name, email address, phone
number, delivery and billing addresses, what you ordered and what it cost, any note
you add to the order, a company name and tax number if you give them, and when you
accepted our terms of sale. Once your order ships we also record the serial number of
your scanner, and later the details of any warranty or support request you make.
-
Payments. Payments are taken by Stripe. You enter your card details
on Stripe's payment page and they go to Stripe directly: we never see or store your
full card number or security code. We keep the card's brand, last four digits, expiry
date and country of issue, and Stripe's references for your payments, invoices and
refunds.
-
How you reached us. With an order we record the page that linked you
to us, any campaign tags in that link, your browser's language and type, and the
country you connected from. We do not store your IP address.
Your saved card
A Knokke is ordered with a deposit, and the balance is paid later. When you pay the
deposit, Stripe saves your card so that the balance can be charged to it on the date shown
when you order. The card is used for that order only. The card details are held by Stripe,
not by us.
Why we collect it and our legal basis
-
To fulfil your order. Taking the deposit and the balance, delivering
your scanner, emailing you about your order, and providing warranty and support. The
legal basis is the performance of our contract with you, under Article 6(1)(b) of the
UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
-
To keep the records the law requires. Invoices and payment records
for tax and accounting. The legal basis is our legal obligation, under Article 6(1)(c).
-
To send you news. Only if you asked for it. The legal basis is your
consent, under Article 6(1)(a). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe
link in every newsletter, or by contacting us.
-
To answer you, to prevent fraud and to understand how customers find us.
Replying to contact form messages, checking payments for fraud, and recording how an
order reached us. The legal basis is our legitimate interests, under Article 6(1)(f).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data or share it for anyone else's marketing. We use these companies
to run our business, and they handle your data on our behalf:
-
Stripe takes payments, stores your card, and issues invoices and
refunds. Stripe also uses payment data for its own purposes, such as preventing fraud
and meeting its legal obligations, as described in its privacy policy at
stripe.com/privacy.
-
Cloudflare hosts this website and the databases that hold orders,
newsletter subscribers and contact form messages, and sends our order emails. Its
privacy policy is at
cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
-
Zoho provides our email and sends our newsletter. Its privacy policy
is at
zoho.com/privacy.html.
-
The delivery company that carries your order is given your name,
delivery address, phone number and email address, so that it can deliver it.
We may also disclose data where the law requires us to, for example to tax authorities.
Where it is stored
These companies may store or process your data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer
is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as UK adequacy
regulations or approved standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
-
Orders, invoices and payment records: for six years after the end of
the financial year of the order, as UK tax and company law require. Warranty and
support records are kept with them.
-
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your address marked
as unsubscribed so that we do not email you again, until you ask us to delete it.
-
Contact form messages: until you ask us to delete them or we no
longer need them to deal with your enquiry.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses
no cookies and does not identify or track individual visitors. Your browser remembers on
your own device that you closed our sign-up banner, so that it is not shown again.
Stripe's payment page is a separate website, and Stripe sets its own cookies there to make
payments work and to prevent fraud.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing
If you ask us to delete your data, we will delete what we can. Order, invoice and payment
records that the law requires us to keep are kept for the period given above.
